What is the typical / average per seat spend on information technology for a
trader in a large wall street investment bank trading room ?

(should include everything but *not* the trader's salary and office
[rent] costs. So, includes: dektop hw/sw, server hw/sw, network,
telecom, phone, phone recording, on the floor tech support,
hot-site/backup-site operations, etc etc).

Please provide as much detail as possible as to how the spending breaks down.
Please site reliable sources and provide links.

I would be happy with a seperation of direct cost per trader.

And seperately the ammount of overhead which is typically assigned to
traders - feel free to get creative in order to roughly approximate
the number.. for example it could be = total overhead - (non trader
headcount * typical non-trader overhead).

Hopefully this simplifies the question.

This will be a toughie. Many of the costs you mention are overhead
and not directly allocatable to specific employees.
