Question ID: 753762
I am a real estate broker. I want to create a free wireless network
for my condo building, but I
want the users of that network to go to a particular website (mine) when they
first log in (like in airports). How can I make that happen?

Hello,

I have had friends who did exactly this but for a hotelier. The
hotel's requirements were that everyone who connected to the wireless
network would see the home page before being able to proceed each time
they connected.

The product they used was from this company:
http://www.flexsys-group.co.uk/us_pages/us_griffin.php
972 3180600

They were able to configure the Griffin to exactly my friend's
requirements and even did the installation for them.
I would advise you speak to them so you ensure that every single
requirement you have can be matched and that you won't be missing
anything that you require by taking this option.

i have also found some alternative products which can perform the same function.

I feel that these products would suit your needs and having known
someone who used the Griffin devices I would advise you speak directly
to them to ensure your needs can be met. I have spoken with them on
the phone and the salesperson has said that your home page of choice
can be displayed each time someone connnects.

Let me know if this suits your needs.

There are two routes here. One inexpensive, and one costly. If you're
savvy with computers and Linux doesn't scare you, you can save some
money here.

Nocat

http://www.nocat.net

What you want is called a "Walled Garden" in many instances. Nocat
offers all the free software to accomplish what you want.

Proxim AP-2500

http://www.proxim.com/products/wifi/ap/ap2500/

This is an access point with the features you want built in. You can
create the walled garden (point to an external web page), and also
handle credit card billing. (I used to work for them).

Nomadix:

This company makes the software that runs the AP-2500, and also offers
competeting access points. These are probably more up-to-date than the
AP-2500. Nocat is a free implementation of Nomadix.
