How many Bibles were sold in the US last year?

This cached article is from 2000 but it still rings true today:

To make matters worse, part of the statistical problem here is that
figures are skewed. There is very little delineation between Bible
DISTRIBUTION and Bible SALES. Many of the Bibles distributed are free
and some of those are even subsequently sold and re-sold in the US and
abroad and there is no official record of those sales. Having said
that I believe that ?tens of millions? is probably the best answer you
will find.

The Bible Society web site said 1,969,015 were distributed. Is that
sold, given away. Are these numbers just for their orginization or
total US. Don't know.
