reporting greater-than-normal rates for Mesothelioma. Example:

Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. As you
probably already know statistics are always compiled after the fact.
The latest report appears to have been released in 2004. According to
the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health the highest
incidence of Mesothelioma per capita occurred in Maine and Alaska
where the state rates exceeded the national average of 11.7 cases per
million by more than twice that (Alaska at 32.8 cases per million and
Maine with 26.4 cases per million).

Kenai Peninsula
Denali
Kodiak Island

In Maine the worst affected county is indisputably Cumberland County
followed by Sagadahoc County.
