Hello panaceaa-ga, I know this is not the answer you want, but I have a definite answer for this question and am posting it as an official answer. I have received two communications from inside Microsoft, one from their relations department (they got in direct touch with both the Tablet PC people and the people who were involved in the photograph), and another from an internal department. Unfortunately, the tablet is not even a prototype. It was only a reference design, and is in no way a production machine. In other words, it was a model of what a tablet pc might look like by a designer, but did not have any electronics etc. inside of it. There should be a slew of new Tablet PCs coming with the new Windows Vista and hopefully something similar to that one will come out for you shortly. All the best, tisme-ga |

Considering I asked for a manufacturer and model number, this answer did not meet the requirements for my question. |

I thought this was an excellent answer. It may not have been what you hoped to hear, but the truth sometimes disappoints. Punishing the messenger of the bad news doesn't change the facts. |

For $7, of which the researcher gets approximately $5.30, my colleague tisme sure went above and beyond what is required to find you accurate information about this laptop. Surely you would rather know the truth than waste your time looking around stores for a laptop you will never be able to buy - right? That alone is worth five stars, isn't it? |

I have no idea what Tisme-ga was thinking giving you an honest, sincere and well researched answer, I guess he should have made up a fictional model number and told you it was discontinued before production. Perhaps then you wouldn't have given a poor rating for his valuable time and research. [-- Mother911-ga --] |

There is no manufacturer. There is no model number. That is the answer. |

I'm with angy-ga on this. Your answer is as given: "There IS NO manufacturer or model number." Should the Researcher have lied and given you one? It is patently unfair and insulting to penalize the Researcher with a poor rating just because the answer you hoped for does not exist. Now you know. |
