True silver dollars (as well as dimes, quarters, and halves) were last minted in 1964. Collectors silver are available but they are not distubuted into general circulation by banks. Matter of fact, they are made specifically for collectors. You could probably find them at any local coin shop or you can buy them online at www.usmint.gov They are legally worth $1, but the silver value alone makes them 'cost' much more. |

"Current dollar coins" (which do not contain silver) should be available at many banks, though availability will vary and you might have to check a few banks. |
