The style reminds me of some of Max Beckmann's works, but I have not found evidence that this is one of his paintings. Maybe one of my colleagues can positively identify it. Scriptor |

This actually is possible. If so, that is probably bad news for me. I can use the image without fear of copyright infringement as long as the work itself was created on or before 1922 (i'm in the us). Beckmann did a lot of painting after 1922. That might also explain why the image (and many of Beckmann's images aren't already on the web). |
