Dear alsinger-ga,
The Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry deals with
registration of ships under the Liberian flag.
http://www.liscr.com/
Their 'Flagship' newsletter of May 2006 provides the latest information.
?Since LISCR assumed management of the registry in 2000, the
Liberian-flag fleet has increased from 1,698 ships totalling 53.3
million gross tons, to 2,217 vessels of almost 66 million gross tons,
by March 2006 ? an increase of more than 12.5m gross tons.?

You can search for Liberian registered vessels on the United States
Coast Guard Maritime Information Exchange which has information from
the Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement database.
?MISLE?.
You will see a drop down box for Vessel flag: Liberia. Unfortunately
the search only returns a maximum of 500 hits. However, if you vary
the vessel build year, you could eventually probably see all the
Liberian vessels.
Each record contains full particulars of the vessel: size, tonnage,
service information, documents and certificates.

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you
