I have a device that is communicating on rs232 in 28.8k baud
(according to its manual. I know it is probably bps and not baud).
I am trying to communicate with it from a PC running windows XP. I
tried writing a java program for that, but I can open com1 only with
rates of 9600, 19200, 38400 (in the range 8000 to 50000). I can't get
28800. I also tried with hyper-terminal software, but I get the same
results.
If I open the device manager I see that the baud rate options do not include 28800.
To make it more interesting, there is the software that came with the
device and it CAN communicate with it. So I know there is some way of
doing this.

How can I make this work?

More specifically, how to make it work in Java?
