where can I get a free download of some software to open an .ec3 file,
which is Epson Print CD software? I don't have the Epson Print CD
software, just the file.

It seems that yours is a common problem. I found a forum thread where
users linked to downloads of this software, and one of them still
works. It seems that Epson, for whatever reason, does not like to have
this available. Currently the software is available on the Epson
Russia website however.

Go down on the page and look for: EPSON Print CD (2.81 M?) | ????:

Found an English one! Downloaded it this time and tested it to make sure it works.

Scroll down to the bottom and click FREE.

Scroll down, wait 60 seconds. 

Choose a server, type in the characters requested and click on Download.

Macintosh - can anyone help with this? My printer is the Epson Photo
Stylus R300.
