I'm looking for an affordable Public Relations firm that must:
1) Have experience with getting products into magazines (parenting
magazines especially would be great)
2) Have experience with the baby/child market
3) Takes a unique and creative approach as opposed to the standard
"News release: new mom makes it in business". Here's an example of one
of my favorite p.r. angles:
During the Cubs and Marlins World Series, a fan caught the ball right
above the players mitt. So, the fan caught the ball first which means
it was ruled a foul ball and only a strike and not an out, the Marlins
went on to win the game and then the series. How in the world to tie
this to a hotel?? Well, that Chicago fan was obviously quite the
outcast in his city so this PR guy created a press release that
offered the fan a free year's home at the hotel. I don't think the fan
ever took them up on it, but it didn't matter as it was all over the
news. Pretty cool, huh?
4) Has has had successful creative press releases that have been run
as stories in magazines or newspapers. (This shows being successful at
#3 above.)
5) Is taking on new clients.
6) Is not representing any of my competitors (baby cariers).
* Experience with celebrities and getting products into their hands
-- and results of this -- would be a big plus.

I would also like some information on hiring. For pricing, is there an
industry average? Is it acceptable to negotiate pricing? Do the firms
listed only offer a long, pricey contract or can they do it on a
per-project basis? What are the questions to ask prospective firms?
How to measure their success?

Please refer to my other question so there's no overlapping of firms:

Actually, I found someone. I wasn't sure about price bargaining or
what specifically to ask, but I really liked their portfolio so I went
for it!
