I bought a new MacBook a few weeks ago and I love it, except for one thing: there is a high pitched sound that emits from the drive that gives me a headache! It's also really distracting. I've worked on Mac laptops for years and never had this problem before. I am wondering what my recourse is. I know that some people hear frequencies that other people do not. Whenever I have taken a hearing test I've been told I have an unusual range ability. So what do I do? A few things come to mind. Are there places on the web where Mac users talk about products, and how can I search for this specific topic? Where in the Apple empire do I register a complaint about this? I doubt very much that they would replace my computer, but . . . should I doubt this? (It is still well within the regular warrenty period.) What are other ways that I can find out if other users have complained about this? How can I know if there is, or will be, a recall because of this problem? Or, am I just part canine and I have to live with it? p.s. spare me the cracks about 'on the internet nobody knows you're a dog . . .' thank you very much * * * |

This is an acknowleged problem. Seems like every one they built has this problem! Buy a PPC powerbook while you can still get one! See: http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1916 and officially from apple: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303365 -turbo |

Hi Timely One I suspect that you may have a tiny dog trapped inside your computer and that he is woofing for attention. I suggest that you take of the lid and try to tempt him out. Good Luck! Bryan |

just a follow-up, for the sake of anyone else looking into this same problem it's a problem with the power inverter, located near where the USB plugs go in. It's covered under the one year warranty. It's fixable (they say), and a free repair. * * * |
