What does a.q. on menus stand for? I know it's the equivalent of
"market price" (e.g., for fresh fish, etc.) but so far no restaurant
has been able to explain exactly what it means. I'm guessing it's
Latin for something similar to "at quote." Because it's such a short
search term I've been completely unable to get this one answered
online...help!

I don't think it's from Latin. I have been told that a.q. stands for "as quoted."

Please let me know if this would be a fully satisfactory answer.

Yeah, that was my assumption ("at quote" or "as quoted"). I guess I
erred in assuming this was from Latin. Yours is a satisfactory answer.

Is that the plate Antarcticans stick on the back of their snow-mobile?
