Part I: I intend to extend the roof of my garage out to create a
carport. The gutter edge of this new roof will abut my property line.
How close to the property line can I come?

Part II: As part of the construction, I would like to build a garden
shed at the same time. Either integrated into the contruction of the
carport or standalone.

This article implies that sheds are not subject to the same setback
requirements as other structures:

I would like specifics as to what are the local rules and exceptions for sheds.
