Hello.
The coins come from the era when Venice controlled the Adriatic coast
of the Balkans (Dalmatia and Albania).
One of these coins is pictured and described on the web page
"Anonymous Coins of Venice" (it's at the very bottom of the page):
http://web.tiscali.it/coinbox/venezia/Venice.htm
The words on the other side are actually:
SAN * MARC * VEN
This would stand for San Marco, Venezia. St. Mark is considered the
patron of Venice.
As the web page above explains,
"Since 1684, 1691 e 1701 other examples of such coins were minted;
they differ in legends and symbols."
Here is the listing for one of these coins from an Italian coin
dealer:

For more precise identification of your coins, you may want to seek
out the book, "A Catalogue of the Coins of Dalmatia Et Albania
1410-1797" by Soterios Gardiakos. It's out of print and difficult to
locate, but you might want to try Amazon.com's system for attempting
to buy out-of-print books:

You might also want to keep an eye on Ebay-Italy's special section for
coins.
