If I own a mutual fund and live in the state of Oregon, do I pay Oregon income taxes, in addition to the capital gains taxes that I pay each year? |

Since you are an Oregon resident, you have a taxing nexus with the state. Oregon will tax you on the income generated from the mutual fund unless it is a tax-exempt municipal bond or something similar that is offered by a state. Please note that you would not necessarily pay the 9% income tax if the distribution from the mutual fund is considered long (or short) term capital gain. |
