I am in California. I have a small freelance editing business that is
basically a Sole Proprietorship, since I have only published a DBA,
etc. I am going to start a Home Inventory business under a different
DBA. I want to create a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and have both
of those businesses under that newly created LLC. I have seen other
companies that do this, but I am not sure how it works.

Basically, I just want to make sure I do everything correctly and
legally. I have a program through Nolo that my brother-in-law has used
to create an LLC very easily. I have not used it yet and am not sure
if it would take into account two different businesses under one LLC.

Basically, my question is this: How can I create an LLC that will
then have my two different businesses protected under it? I would
appreciate a detailed yet clear response that is as simple as
possible.

I have spent a lot of time on SBA and nolo type of websites and have
learned much about this topic, but nothing that specifically deals
with my concerns.

Thank you.
