Hello-- Licensing drivers, including commercial ones, is the responsibility of each state. It appears as though there is no one central agency or group that gathers this kind of information. To get an exact number of commercial driver's licenses issued across the country, you'd probably need to contact each state individually. I hope this helps. |

I tried answering this one, only to find re-read that you wanted commercial drivers and not all total drivers with all kinds of licenses (not nessacaraly commercial). The Federal HighWay Administration (FHWA) of the US Department of transportation has statistics of this kind. The problem is they are not complete for all states. See here: Driver Licensing Section of Highway Statistics 2000 http://www.fhwa.dot.gov////ohim/hs00/dl.htm and here Motor-Vehicle Driver Licenses 2000 http://www.fhwa.dot.gov////ohim/hs00/dl1.htm for the most recent (2000) statistics of this nature. Sorry I could not help you further. --arcadesdude-ga |
