Question ID: 757695
I would like to download yellow pages data in a digital format,
for free or at a very low cost. Is the information available from the
government or public companies?

Please give specific steps on how to download yellow page data for all
of the United States. Thanks.

up23-ga,

I once looked into this very question. The business listings of the
phone book are indeed supposedly available to any company calling
itself a telecom, althogh the data is not free -- the providing
company can charge to cover the costs of making the info available.

In theory, anyone should be able to get it. in practice, only the
large, well-funded, lots-of-lawyers-on-staff companies appear to be
able to get their hands on it.

This isn't really asking for clarification. I guess I'm just writing
to say "Good luck".

Dear up23-ga

AllPages.com provides an online national "yellow pages" directory for
all the US States. http://www.allpages.com/.

You can go to their website and can request them for the data. They
are providing the free information over the site. They might provide
you the data at a low cost or no fee.

Have a try, good luck.
