I'm looking for sites who describe in detail the methods of secret services. I particulary want to know how they start to investigate crimes where there are no many traces to track. | |

I don't know of any sites that provide such information but just you wait and a Researcher will soon prove me wrong! However, I can tell you that, here in the UK, it's the job of the Police to 'solve' reported crime although they are singularly unsuccessful. Less than 10% of reported crimes ever get solved and those with little or no clues will probably never get solved at all. The Secret Services provide Intelligence culled mainly from telephone intercepts (including fax & emails) and also from intercepts of snail mail services. Bryan |

In Britain the secret services do not investigate crimes, (they usually commit them) Kemlo |

So Kemlo, Would you rather that the police and secret service just let the terrorists hijack and detonate explosives on more planes? Sure no one likes having theirs or anyone else's civil right but then again, would you rather die? Thats a very poor comment in my books. |

borisshah It does not matter one iota what I do or do not like. The British secret services are a law unto themselves and always have been. Its only when they are in the public eye they "appear" to obey the law. Only when they have to present evidence in court do they obtain the correct court warrants. I for one would not have it any other way Regards Kemlo |

If you are talking about the Secret Service within the United States, they are in fact a law enforcement agency and do investigate a wide variety of crimes. Wikipedia defines their role: "The Secret Service has primary jurisdiction over the prevention of counterfeiting of U.S. currency and U.S. treasury bonds and notes, and protection of the President, Vice President, their immediate families, other high ranking government officials, past presidents and their spouses, certain candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, and visiting foreign heads of state and government (all called "protectees"). It also investigates a wide variety of financial fraud crimes and identity theft and provides forensics assistance for some local crimes. The name is believed to have come from the fact that they are not allowed to reveal who they are when asked." - artqs |
