In my experience, the best way to eliminate roaches in the long term
is to starve 'em out. Empty the cabinets and clean them thoroughly.
Put all food in roachproof containers (glass or metal or heavy
plastic, with tight-fitting lids - no cardboard). Roaches want to live
in areas where food is accessible and plentiful. Remove their food
sources, and the roach infestation will gradually diminish.

Maybe get a small electric fan that you can run inside the cabinets in
order to dry them out.
