Hi, I am trying to find the number of small and medium businesses that
import merchandise in the US and the European Union (or other similar
definition on Europe). This is to help size the market of companies
who require global sourcing services. I have found export data easy
to attain, but import data more difficult.
The ideal answer would be in this form (although it may require some
estimation since the data is likely to come from different sources):
Total US Import volume - e.g. $x.x trillion
Total # of companies (including importers, distributors and
manufacturers) that import - e.g. xx mm
% of companies that are SME - e.g. xx%
% of import volume that comes from SMEs - e.g. xx%
Or we might come at it a different way:
Total # of SMEs - e.g. xx mm
% of SMEs that import - e.g. xx%
% of import volume that comes from SMEs - xx%
$ of import volume that comes from SMEs - $xxx billion
European Economic Area (could be EU, or some other definition of
Europe).
Same information as for US (see above)
I know that this will likely be pieced together from multiple sources
of data, and don't expect a set of numbers that are entirely tied
together. A great answer will include detailed sources and your
search strategy, so I can do ancillary research if future questions
come up. Thanks in advance for your help! Let me know if I can clarify. |
