Hi! Thanks for the question. Here are the numbers according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Please take note that the last and latest survey was made in 2001 and is done every five years and the 2006 survey is underway. "13 million people 16 years and older enjoyed hunting in the U.S. Those 13 million hunters spent 228 days afield, took 200 million hunting trips and spent $20.6 billion pursuing their passion." The breakdown on hunting types are the following: (people maybe a combination of different types of hunters) big game - 11.0 million small game - 5.4 million migratory birds - 3.0 million other animals - 1.0 million Source: US Fish and Wildlife Service http://www.fws.gov/hunting/huntstat.html Search terms used: hunting statistics I hope this would help you in your research. Before rating this answer, please ask for a clarification if you have a question or if you would need further information. Regards, Easterangel-ga Google Answers Researcher |

"Those 13 million hunters spent 228 days afield ..." Does that suggest that each of them was out hunting 2 out of 3 days each year?! OR, is that a sum of the days of the various legal hunting seasons throughout the country? ?? |

I think that the estimates were cumulative in nature. |
