Sounds like Olivier Theyskens.
"In the hour before the showing of his Fall 2003 collection for
Rochas, a French brand known to most people under the age of 75 only
for perfumes and cosmetics glimpsed in duty-free malls, 26-year-old
Olivier Theyskens was doing something a little odd backstage: burying
an impeccably soigné strapless cocktail dress, worn to perfection by
Karolina Kurkova, under a mass of tulle. Next he swathed the tulle in
a giant piece of handpainted velvet, so that Kurkova looked as if she
were wearing the most fabulous beach ball. As for the cocktail dress,
it was completely obscured?history, as it were. "That dress,"
Theyskens explained afterward, "is what I never want to see again at
Rochas."
[..]
...Theyskens jestingly buried that cocktail dress as a statement that
he had no intention of reviving the perfect couture that Marcel
Rochas, a designer best known for his invention of the guepiere, or
long-line girdle, used to fit on the hourglass frames of Joan Crawford
and Marlene Dietrich."
