My husband and I are considering a move from Half Moon Bay, CA to
somewhere in Washington State's "rainshadow" area, which we visited in
June and will be revisiting next month. We looked around Anacortes and
went to Orcas Island and San Juan Island. We also checked out Whidbey,
briefly.

On this trip we will be house-hunting more seriously and would also
like to look on Camano Island. There's so much confusing information
on the Internet; some people say that Whidbey is drier than the San
Juans, others say the opposite (I know about the microclimates on the
San Juans, do a degree). This is kind of a 2-part question and I hoope
I'll be forgiven by trying to make it one, but: What parts of Whidbey
and Camano have the least amount of drizzly/grey weather? Also, is the
noise from the naval base really an overwhelming factor on Whidbey, as
someone said on another thread, or just in Oak Harbor?

That's "to a degree" and "I hope." Forgive the bad typing!

I live in Seattle, both Whidbey and Camano are excellent choices!

An answer to part 2 of your question:

Whidbey Island Information

Here's where the Sun Shines

Note: North Whidbey Island (Oak Harbor area) is highlighted in
YELLOW. It takes a minute to figure out how to read these maps, but
there is a lot of sense to them.

Whidbey Island Noise Zones

If I can find similar information for Camano Island I'll post again.
