yes.
the train network in vietnam is very simple. it runs from top to
bottom. take night trains to save your self a hotel for the night and
arrive in your new destination early in the morning. depending on
where you start, hanoi or ho chi minh, take the train either up or
down the country. making sure you stop in hoian. save about 3 or 4
days for this great little town full of amazingly cheap tailors and
great little cafes. every one i know gets addicted to it. if the
weather is good up north, you must see the stunning halong bay, near
hanoi, if you want to see traditional culture head into the mountains
to the north of hanoi (though this is a 3-4 day trip) and if you want
to see a world on water, head south of ho chi minh to the mekong delta
(2-3 days). and don't forget to get on your hands and knees and
experience some of the famous tunnels from the US war, either near hoi
chi minh, or in the middle near da nang. when you've made you're way
down/up the country, fly back to your original city to get your flight
home. and don't be too anoyed when you get ripped off 10c by someone.
enjoy :) |
