Myoarin, I have noticed recently that you are giving your Comments particular attention. An example is this Comment: Subject: Re: Realtor having first sit-down with Commercial Real Estate Developer http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=760048 This is great advice, obviously from a person seasoned in the art of social protocols. Also, you think before you type, then you think again before you click "Post." I think you have incredible self-control, a trait in which I am lacking. I have 2 questions for you: 1) Please share with a one or two lessons you have learned in your life that impacted your life, changed a fundamental belief. 2) Please share with me what you believe to be your greatest words of wisdom. Thanks!

Hi Cyndy... I managed to recover from my power supply failure, so I'll go ahead and post the answer, but I don't have time to elaborate on it right now, except for this: Fry's is a very cool store, and exchanged a power supply for me that had been bought 14 months ago! Very, very good! ----------------------------------------------------------- As for wisdom, here are a few sublime1 originals: "Be yourself to see yourself to free yourself to be your Self." "There's really only one of us here." "I actually know everything...I just can't remember it all at once." and last, but not least... "If I was REALLY naked, I'd be invisible." But my favorite words of wisdom are from a Turkish proverb: "He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, he is a fool - shun him. He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, He is a student - teach him. He who knows, and knows not that he knows, He is asleep - awaken him. He who knows, and knows that he knows, He is wise - Follow him." ----------------------------------------------------------- If you really want something additionally, please post a request for clarification. Best regards... sublime1-ga

I wonder ... Is this the same Myoarin that you are writing about? |

I always appreciate Myoarin's comments as well and am looking forward to his words of wisdom! Your other question has me thinking of coincidences. A true coincidence would be if that questioner whose link you posted and the other corresponding questioner were actually not the husband and wife in each other's question, but simply found themselves in exactly the same situations, wanting the same advice, and posting on Google Answers within minutes of each other. |

Indeed. Did you see the question where I used a reporters own story to answer his question? I was scanning the questions in reverse, looking at those that are expiring soon, I spotted an interesting question. Unbeknownst to me it was a reporter for the Boston Globe writing an article. I locked it, found the reporters own article (he didn't get an answer at GA for nearly 30 days and used other sources), --I used him as my source! Oooh, if I were only really like Myoarin ...! I think Bryan intended to include a link to a comment that belied Cynthia's impression, but then kindly didn't. There have been some. Thanks. One thing I have learned here from many Researchers' postings is tact, and maybe - just maybe - there has been some carry-over into real life, a good deal late, but never too late. I still blush and start whistling to distract myself when I suddenly recall one or the other faux pas from the past. In the comment to 760048, I did indeed reread it and a couple of times started to include a line that could have been facetious or worse (something about the investor's companion and that there may really be dumb blondes). That comment was based on 65 years of stepping in greasy pans, as the Germans say, when they don't want to use the French expression: prep school, army, college and banks, plus family, of course. If only Myoarin had been around back then to advise me, but I probably wouldn't have listened. I am afraid that I don't really have answers to your questions. Lessons: I like those in "Everything I Need to Know I Learned In Kindergarten." Only problem is that the book came out way to late to help me, - and I didn't go to one. Any words of wisdom aren't mine. Dad's favorite expression was "moderation in all things, including moderation," oft repeated when he got up to make us all a second cocktail. Comes from a Greek philosopher, I believe. Mom told that her mother always waited till the next day to post letters, rereading them first, which does get back to the subject. In the same vein, there is an Arabic proverb: Allah, give me the neck of camel, that I may chew and chew and chew again my words before they come out. Mine isn't, no matter how far I stick it out. I will be looking forward to Researchers' proffered words of wisdom. With kind regards to all, Cynthia in particular, Myoarin |

Fascinating post Myoarin. You reminded me of a quote: ..."We have two ears and one mouth so we may listen more and talk the less..." --Epictetus --Roman (Greek-born) slave & Stoic philosopher (55 AD - 135 AD) http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/31461.html |

Cynthia dear, You really shouldn't be out so late at night - and in this company! I hesitate to reply, lest others think this is private conversation and forget that it is a question for GARs. But I wanted to say: Occasionally I have been offered a penny for my thoughts, but no one ever invested 2500% more for them - even risking a great deal more; they aren't really worth it, but I try to put in my two bits' worth. Now I will keep my fingers of this one. Cheers, Myo |

I believe Myoarin's eloquent verbosity may be the result of a misunderstanding. The button you click to send in your remarks to GA says "Post Comment," but I suspect that our friend is misreading this, thinking that it says "Proust Comment." |

Interesting idea, Pink, but ... Knowing Myoarin as well as I do, it is far more likely that he was saying: 'Prost!' |

Well, I may have to use Google Desktop to search my memory for lessons at a later time. As for wisdom, here are a few sublime1 originals: "Be yourself to see yourself to free yourself to be your Self." "There's really only one of us here." "I actually know everything...I just can't remember it all at once." and last, but not least... "If I was REALLY naked, I'd be invisible." Greatly Sublime! Back when, I intented to confirm that Bryan was right: "Prost!" Maybe I tried, but had used up my posts for the day. Now back after a few beautiful days in Hamburg. Cheers to all, Myo |

That is great! I was watching TV last night, of all things "Million Dollar Listing" on Bravo, and this high-powered Realtor is in a car getting ready to present a lowball offer to his seller and he says: ...Breathe in Faith...and Exhale Fear... I tried it, there's something healing about it. |

I've always like my Dad's favorite saying, "It is better to remain silent and be thought stupid, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt". I'm pretty sure it's Mark Twain's quote, but i've seen it credited to a bunch of people. I also like "Measure twice cut once", it works in all situations and not just woodworking. Myoarin, Answered questions remain open for Comments for 1 calendar year! I fear no one will get in the last word here! Plus, did you know that every time an answered question receives a comment, the question moves to the top of the (answering) GAR's "Answers I Have Worked On" list? You learn something new about us GAR's every day! |

HI Cynthia, Yeah, I went off half-cocked, I do know that the expiry date applies to posting answers and that questions that are not cancelled are open to comments for 12 months. I was just to involved in worrying whether Sublime would post an answer before the expiry date/time that I forgot. Duh! I have suspected that GARs had a special list of questions, even considered that maybe y'all have a split screen facility that allows you to see new questions as they are posted, while doing something else. Good idea? Seems like the host is showing less interest in supporting G-A. Anyway - I wonder what happen at that business dinner? Cheers, Myo |
