The best source I found is the ALSO (Alternative Life Styles
Organisation) directory - "Australia's first and most comprehensive
directory of business and community groups offering services to the
gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex community."

The ALSO 2006 Directory: http://www.also.org.au/directory/

From there I went to the "Transgender" section, and selected the
following organisations which I believe are geographically suitable:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trans Melbourne Gender Project
http://www.genderproject.net.au

Address: Trans Melbourne Gender Project
PO Box 212, Seddon, Victoria, Australia 3011

Email:info@genderproject.net.au
Phone: 0425 769 896 (listed on ALSO Directory)
Phone: 0403 215 271 (listed on Trans Melbourne Gender Project website)

"A network of people of all genders who creatively resist the
assumption that everyone must live in the gender assigned them at
birth. Meets monthly for social and peer support . Advocacy focus on
vulnerability (young, poor) gender variant people."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chameleon Society of Victoria
http://home.vicnet.net.au/~csv/

Address: PO Box 500, Williamstown, Victoria 3016
Phone: (03) 9517 9416

From the Chameleon Society of Victoria website:

"The Chameleon Society of Victoria Inc.is an organization, for those
persons who, because of gender identity problems, experience
loneliness and isolation. Its aims are to eliminate or minimize the
isolation which often is the lot of the transperson."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Email:gisg@bigpond.net.au

"The Gender Identity Support Group is a non-profit organisation for
people who have issues with their gender. We offer friendship, support
& social activities around Victoria. Family and/or partners are

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seahorse Victoria

Postal address: Seahorse Club of Victoria Inc.
                P.O. Box 86, St. Kilda, Victoria 3182

Phone: (03) 9513 8222
Email:info@seahorsevic.com

From the Seahorse website:

the transgender community.

those who identify as transgendered can meet and communicate with each
other. Common issues, problems, successes, and - to a degree - similar
life stories are the threads that bind members together."

friends. We provide support on a range of issues including education,
health accommodation & facilitating assistance with workplace issues
for those identifying as transgender, transsexual or cross-dresser"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here you can view all the organisations listed in the Transgender
section of the ALSO Directory:

http://www.also.org.au/directory/index.php?module=list&groupid=436

I also came across the The Rainbow Network:

"Rainbow Network is the Statewide Network for workers who facilitate
groups, coordinate projects or work with same sex attracted, bisexual,
queer and transgender young people."

Rainbow Network meetings are open to members of the Network and
invited guests, so you will need to refer to the "Membership" section
of the website for details. The city-based meetings take place in
Melbourne, and the rural/meetings will be held across Victoria. Click
on: "Meetings 2006"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition to the above, there are 47 people listed on
Outpersonals.com in VIctoria who are looking to meet: men, gay couples
(2 guys), bi couples (woman and bi man), groups or TS/TV/TG.

This the is the link, but may need to confirm you are over 18 before
you can view the ads:

I hope the information I've provided is helpful, and I hope you meet
nice new friends. If anything is unclear, please feel free to ask for
clarification.

Best regards,
jackburton
