I am an entrepreneur who is looking for an investor for my company,
and would appreciate help in compiling a list of business angels to
contact.

What I am trying to achieve:
I want to contact 250 business angels by Email in the following
geographies (100 in Australia, 100 in USA, 50 in Switzerland). These
need to be Business Angels (Wealthy entrepreneurs or Private Equity
investors) and not Venture Capitalists or financial institutions.

Deliverables:
The compiled list should be prepared in Excel with the following fields.
Company name: (if its a company)
First & Last name: (if its an individual)
  Country: (Australia, USA or Switzerland)
  Email address: (must have this)
  Web site: (if possible)
  Telephone: (if possible)

Background:
My company is an ASP (application service providing) provider, that
has a web based management solution for recreation/interest groups.

If you require further information just let me know.

I'm not clear on how to distinguish Angels from VC's, for the purposes
of your list.

Can you clarify the distinction.

Thanks,

Business Angels are wealthy individuals who invest their own money as desired.
VC's are generally companies who manage a fund of other peoples money.
When looking at a persons/companies site or profile they will
generally mention if they are a VC or a business angel (private equity
investor).

I would consider any wealthy individual person, who invests his/her
private money into ventures, to be a business angel.

Wave, Unfortunately I'm afraid that it just doesn't work that way.
There are a number of sites on the web which claim to offer lists of
angels that you can buy, but they're completely useless. First of all,
serious angels simply will not respond to over-the-transom email
pitches. The ONLY way you will get to angels is either (a) by
submitting an application through one of the organized angel groups
(there are about 300 in the US, and probably another couple of hundred
in the rest of the world, including Australia), or (b) having someone
who knows you and them (such as a lawyer or accountant) personally
refer your plan.

Let me suggest a few things, however. Go to the web site of the Angel
Capital Association (www.angelcapitalassociation.org) and click on
their Directory link. That will take you to a hyperlinked list of the
websites of all the major angel groups in the US...although you should
realize that most of them invest locally, and won't consider an
overseas investment. Then, go to Amazon and pick up two books:
"Investors in your Back Yard", and "Every Business Needs an Angel".
Those are two good reference works that will walk you through the
whole process of finding angel funding.

Good luck with your search!

active angel groups in the US...)
