The only component of an aquarium filter that would be of any value to you is the activated carbon, which is also a major component of Brita filters. You can buy activated carbon in bulk, put it in a very fine mesh bag, and make your own filter. |

the activated carbon is used in drinking water supply engineering, which has already been proved to be a safe mathod, and absolutly nothing been added in. i am a water treatment engineer, but i don't know if it will work upon your question. good day |
