Question ID: 761478
if i were to use an aquarium filter, brand new, to filter cheap vodka
would it be safe to drink? basically will the aquarium filter add
anything bad to the vodka, i use brita filters to filter vodka, but
was thinking how much faster and more effective an electric aquarium
filter would be....

i know that activated carbon filters such as the ones used in a brita
purifier are safe to filter vodka with, i was just wondering if an
aquarium filter that also uses an activated carbon filter would be
safe ie does an aquarium filter place any non human safe chemicals
into the water going through it?

The method you describe is mentioned here:

(just search for "aquarium")

but I am unsure if it is an endorsement safety-wise.

I hope this helps.

Have a good day.

The only component of an aquarium filter that would be of any value to
you is the activated carbon, which is also a major component of Brita
filters. You can buy activated carbon in bulk, put it in a very fine
mesh bag, and make your own filter.

the activated carbon is used in drinking water supply engineering,
which has already been proved to be a safe mathod, and absolutly
nothing been added in. i am a water treatment engineer, but i don't
know if it will work upon your question.

good day
