hi i read a book when i was little and would love to find the title
name and even better a copy. it would have been around late 70's early
80's. all i remember is its about 2 little girls( i think) who
discover they can jump into chalk footpath/sidewalk drawings and i am
sure they do this by eating red or black jellybeans. they steal food
from there house and go on an adventure. Please if this sounds
familiar I would appreciate your help(my discription may be a little

Many people seem to have very fond memories of a book called
"Jellybeans for Breakfast" (1968), by Miriam Young, now out of print
and very difficult to find. Most used copies are listed for $100+ (see
bookfinder.com). I can't find enough details about the plot to see if
they match your memories, but here is a link to a picture of the

I did a quick search and found a book called "The Sidewalk Rescue" by
Hazel Hutchins and Ruth Ohi.  It matches some of the plot elements you
described, but not the publication year (the two copies I found are
2004).  I'm curious to learn if this is what you were looking for or
if these are the authors of the book you are looking for.  Here are is
