Hello ericshaffer-ga,

My research has turned up that this would be in Tian'anmen Square, China.

"The Chinese flag is raised at sunset and lowered at sunrise when PLA
soldiers march up and down, drilled to perform at 108 paces per
minute!"

Please let me know if you require any clarification, and I will do my
best to further assist you. All the best,

This paragraph contradicts itself

In the evenings, after the ceremonial lowering of the flag, courting
couples and families parade the heart of the city. The easiest
approach to the square is from the south, where there's a bus terminus
and a subway stop. The Chinese flag is raised at sunset and lowered at
sunrise when PLA soldiers march up and down, drilled to perform at 108
paces per minute!

I think its a misprint or an error All other symbolic parts of the
square are explained in full.

I quite agree. The flag certainly flies during the day.

But congratulations to Tisme for finding erroneous reference.
