Question ID: 761793
My operating system is Windows 2003 Server. Recently, my computer was
injected by some virus, and I deleted some files which seemed like
virus. Then I found my internet expolrer can not open by clicking the
icon on desktop. When I dobule click the icon on desktop, an error
message will appear.

Snapshot here: http://www.bibtx.org/deny.jpg

It is in Chinese. I think it will be "Deny Access" in English. I
cannot work out a solution. My system fold is "C:\Windows", fully
access by "Administrator" and "System" account, and temporary internet
files is in "G:\Temp\Temporary Internet Files", fully access by
"Administrator", "Everyone" and "System" account. Also, "C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer" which containing iexplore.exe have access by
"Administrator", "Everyone" and "System".

Could anyone tell me how to solve this trouble? Or tell me some
prossibly causations about it. Thank you.

Hi!!

Could you do a right click on the IE icon and click on Properties to
see which the icon is linked to?
If it is pointed to a different file that C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\iexplore.exe do the following:
Delete the IE icon on the desktop and then go to MyPC --> open the
Internet Explorer directory (C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer) and
do a right click on the file iexplore.exe and select Send to DEsktop
to create a new clean icon.

to sublime1 and ryandarin: I just want to repair my IE and find why it
doesn't work. I will have to reinstall IE again if virus attacks my IE
after I reinstall it.

to livioflores: the IE icon is the default icon created when system is
installed. It will show "open start page" , "property" and so on when
right click on it.

to zhyale: no service named "Kent".

Thank you.

Let us know what happened when you start IE by clicking Start button
--> Run --> typing iexplore.exe
If using this method IE runs normally then I suggest you to do what I told you:
Delete the IE icon on the desktop and then go to MyPC --> open the
Internet Explorer directory (C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer) and
do a right click on the file iexplore.exe and select Send to DEsktop
to create a new clean icon.

If the problem persist do an online scan of your computer here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

and/or here:

Let the scanners do their job cleaning what they find and try again.
Tell us the results.

Good luck!!

I used the scanner above and found a lot of viruses. But they seemed
not have someting to do with my IE. The trouble still exists after I
cleaned the viruses.

Now I upgrade my IE to IE 7 RC1, and it works well. I hope there is no
such kind of virus in my computer and upgrading will fix system files
which were injected. I am tired with fighting with virus.

Thank you all.

run "services.msc", check if it has a sevice named "Kent", which
process is svchosts.exe ? Stop it, and delete it by run "sc delete
Kent".

I would suggest reinstalling IE http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
Or just trying Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/
