Looking for information on what business would have been located at
100 West 78th Street in New York, NY in 1950's.  A family memeber had
listed himself as self employed on his Social Security Application in
1952.  It is possible that the address was his residence.  I also know
that at one time he was the owner of a window washing business.

That is the address of an apartment, now condo, building built in
1926.  The following site even gives you a bird's eye view of the
building at the corner of W 78th and Columbus Avenue.

I expect that the building had no streetfront shops, that the person
operated from his apartment.
