Dedicated DVD players are usually small and portable. I don't know of one with a 21-inch screen. The easiest way to achieve your goal would probably be to buy a suitable TV/DVD player and disable the tuner. |

Another way to go: many televisions come with a menu choice for "parental control" that enables the user to selectively lock-out stations of choice, with password protection. |

What you want is a monitor. When JVC or Mitsubishi (can't recall which) came out with their monster 35-inch tube TV in '89, it was a monitor only-- built with no tuner. There's gotta be someone who still makes one of these, a no-tuner TV. A hotel TV can be programmed to a select few stations and this cannot be changed without the master remote. I assume you could deprogram all stations except channel 3 or 4. Look for one with monitor inputs as well. I leave it to a Researcher to point you to hotel TVs or TV monitor makers. |

Why not hook up a portable DVD player to an LCD computer monitor? Portable DVD = $100 42" LCD Monitor with RCA inputs (as an example http://shopus.polaroid.com/shop/public/products/details/dsp_product_details.cfm?product=PCEFLM4201) = $2200 Since there is no tuner there is no way to receive channels. Alternately you could look at a DVD/Projector combo such as: Portable DVD = $100 Optoma H31 (screen size 28" and up) = $699 The reason for choosing a portable DVD player is that they generally do not have a way of hooking up coax cables to them, thereby avoiding the TV channel problem. There are many different LCD monitors that have RCA inputs but no Coaxial ones so your price range can very. |

You can just manually disable the cable/antenna input by crushing the connector with a pair of vise-grip pliers. Hook up the DVD player via component or composite cables. |

here is what you can do and it would be the easiest. go to any store and purchase the tv with dvd player in it that you like most and then when you get home and hook it up go into the settings and then go into the add and remove channels and remove all channels from teh to so if you push the channel button it would only show the input channels. i use the same thing on my kids tv that i have there dvd player and nintendo hooked up to as well as my living room tv that i have a satalite reciever hooked up to. |
