Thanks for the answer, but I hadn't realized that those lame
one-cassette models were still being inflicted on the consumer. I
should have specified thast I meant an answere with a separate
cassette for incoming. Outgoing can be digital or not. Any ideas?

Hello Docbea,
Firstly I am very sorry for having been silent for some time - I was
having lots of trouble with my ISP.
I have found you a number of options with TANDY products. All these
are dual cassette answering machines. There is one problem though - I
could not find any of these listed in the online Radioshack store.

This is the only cassette-based answering machine featured here.

RadioShack TAD-510 Dual Cassette Telephone Answering System --
RadioShack TAD-276 Dual Cass Answering System w/Remote
----------------------------------------------
I have a feeling that you may find them at a store near you if they
are still manufactured. There is little chance of this, in my opinion.
If they were still manufactured there is no reason why they should not
be available online from Radioshack.
Retell seems like a nice option. It is a single-cassette based system
though. Please do check them out. I have posted you the URLs earlier.
[ http://www.retellrecorders.co.uk/pages/products.html ] Please look
under Professional Answering Machines.
The last option is to look for a used one at Ebay. If you like, I can
do this for you.

Thanks for all the hard work. I think I got what I wanted--from your
Radio Shack tip. I hadn't realized that there are two kinds of single
tape answerers. The awful kind uses one tape for everything. But the
kind that uses a chip for outgoing has a single cassetts, but its just
for incoming and that should work fine. Thanks again.
