In Windows XP (MCE 2005), my network connection stops responding after heavy usage (i.e., copying large files across the LAN). Outgoing and incoming pings timeout, although the "sent packets" counter continues to increase in the Status window. No error messages are generated, nor are there any related entries in the System Events Log. I've tried reinstalling Windows. I've tried using the onboard VIA Rhine 10/100 NIC, a Linksys 10/100 NIC, and an Intel Pro Gigabit NIC. I've tried every PCI slot, 4 different cables (3 CAT-5, 1 CAT-6, all retail manufactured), 2 different switches (one Linksys, one D-Link) and 1 router (D-Link). I've turned flow control on and off and played with other "advanced" settings (and then reset them back to their defaults). System specs: Windows XP MCE 2005 w/SP2 and most recent updates as of September 2006. Motherboard: ASUS A7V8X CPU: Athlon XP 2200+ RAM: 768MB (3 x 256MB) HDD: 2 200GB drives on 2 seperate channels PSU: Enermax 450W | |

DO you have an active firewall?? What might be causing it is the Windows Firewall or your own firewall. Try turning it off, and see if that helps. |

Hadn't thought of that, so I tried disabling it (Windows Firewall), but the problem persists. |

have you tried checking the IP addresses (and all other network settings/proerties) before and after the file transfers? |
