I am looking for supporting evidence of the benefits of using Cordless Mouse and Keyboard in an office over traditional wired Mouse and Keyboard. Specifically I am looking for any research or papers on the productivity gains associated with the use of the Cordless Mouse and Keyboard in an office and the reduction in occupational injuries through improved ergonomics and comfort. |

Benefits of using cordless mouse and keyboard ============================================= -their ergonomical design and combining with multimedia hotkeys, improves the computing experience, hence makes computer be more friendly to most people. -it looks great and eliminate desktop clutter, hence makes the desk be more productive for non-IT workers. -it free people from their desks, allowing users to lean back in a chair and place the keyboard on their laps. -it is no longer a mouse cord to push around or get snagged when navigating the screen. -it is a perfect combination for everyday computing, presentations, gaming, surfing the Internet and more. For example, some cordless mouse integrated with a laser pointer and can be used as a Powerpoint remote control during a presentation. Traditional disadvantages of cordless mouse and keyboard ======================================================== -Some cordless mouse and keyboard are not pre-synchronized, pre-encrypted and need to setup before use. -Battery required for the mouse to operate. New technologies in cordless mouse and keyboard =============================================== -some manufacturer, say Logitech's SecureConnect technology, the cordless keyboard, mouse and receiver are all pre- synchronized and pre-connected during manufacturing. -some cordless mouse and keyboard are having a rechargeable NiMH battery with desktop charging cradle. Keep a good supply of batteries around, personal home experience shows they die suddenly, that may freak out some people. |

I worked in a place that thought cordless mice and keyboards would be best. Instead they went through tons of batteries, and mice and keyboards were dropped and broken! Batteries would die, when most needed it seems! The receiver would get knocked out of the line of sight of the mouse. This particular keyboard had no lights indicating caps and num lock were on/off. I can see little, if any, benefit to wireless peripherals. |
