I have a group of 10-14 people travelling from Atlanta, Ga, to Puerto
Plata from May 12-May 19. I am looking for discount flights for this
itinerary. I have contacted Delta directly as they have direct
flights, however their current published fare is $650 without the
group booking and $551 per person for a group over 10 people. Both of
those rates include taxes and airline fees, etc.

I need to know if there are better rates avaiable out there and how to
get them- ie through a travel agent, charter company, etc. If this
isn't possible, is there a way to get cheaper flights if we fly from a
different, but nearby airport?

I am looking for an ACTUAL avaiable fare (that beats the $551- ideally
by a LOT) and a direct contact for that rate. The dates are not
flexible, neither is the arrival airport of Puerto Plata. If you need
an exact number, use 10, but let me know if the fare would be better
if 12 or 14 people were the total number of passengers.

If it is not currently possible to get a better rate, please let me
know why- ie this is the normal, cheapest rate to fly there or I'm
booking too early, my group isn't big enough, etc.

I wanted to clarify that any "surrounding airports" can include
Athens, GA or any airport in Florida if the flight is then direct.

I had looked into this a bit for you at the time of the question; you
are getting as good a deal as possible from the airport you are
choosing. The least expensive flights I could find were for $600.
