Find me a European/British company that rents suitable RVs

I want to go on holiday for 2-3 weeks next July (2007) and hire a
large Recreational Vehicle (RV) in mainland Europe (Germany, France,
Spain etc).  I am based in the UK (Kent) but the cost/hassle of
getting a large RV through the Channel Tunnel or on the Ferry at that
time of year will be several hundred Euros.  Then I have a 5 hour
drive through the most boring parts of France.  If I've booked the RV
in advance and therefore know my dates it is much easier, and no more
expensive, to fly there and bring my stuff in suitcases.  So what I
want is a list of between 6 and 12 firms that rent RVs out in those
countries and a short cost comparison between firms renting equivalent
RVs out in the UK.  I need the RV to sleep at least 8 people.  The
bigger the better frankly.

Tip: That size of RV is not going to be available from most renters in
UK or Europe.  It is a specialized market and there might be as few as
6 -12 firms renting such large Vans out.

If you telephone the firms that don't give clear information on their
websites and double check the key points of your research I'll tip up
to $40 extra which should easily cover your telephone costs.  In terms
of your research all I want is the website address, their location and
telephone number.  But I only want rental firms that have the right
size RVs.  i.e. Very big.

the time difference, I'm not sure when I'll hear back from them. Just

I heard back yesterday from three of the companies I contacted. All of
them told me that they do not have such a thing and in fact, that it
is illegal to have something that seats more than seven on European
roads.

Perhaps it is perfectly legal and available in England, however, since
you have said that you found some there yourself. What were the names
of the companies in England that said they could do this for you?

If it is in fact illegal to have such a vehicle, I doubt that you'll
be able to rent one. No one wants to be party to something illegal.



On a side note, the companies I talked to were all very nice and
helpful, and willing to rent you a 7- or 6-berth vehicle.
