Hello, my website written in asp.net 1.1.4322 is caching on my web
server, so that a new .dll pushed up does not take effect for several
hours. I would like to see my changes immediately even if it means
killing the sessions of live users. What property must I modify and
where would I find that? Thanks!

Come on, people! Anyone familiar with administering IIS should know
this without having to even research it. I don't even need the
explanation to be an essay, just a simple description of how to change
the property or link to such a page. There, I upped it to 5 bucks, and
I'm not getting reimbursed so five is it:)

hi fiveweight,

let me get the question straight. you are trying 2 upload a new dll on
to the web server and you want it to pick the new dll immediately.

if i get you right, every time a new deployment is done, go to command
prompt and do a IISRESET and then delete the temporary asp.net files
in c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files folder.

if this is not what you are expecting, plug in more details.

thanks,
sazid.

Thank you for the response Sazid.

We may very well end up trying that, but the problem is we have other
sites running on the server and I believe IISRESET would kill all
sessions of all users for other sites as well. Not a huge deal, but I
thought there might be a way to control caching on a site-by-site
basis.

Thanks,
Mike

hi fiveweight,

if there are multiple applications running on the same web server,
iisreset is not recommended.

when you deploy the new dll, just edit the web.config file in the
application folder (add a space or something and save), this will end
up in recompilation.

cheers,
sazid.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks again Sazid.
