In the movie Mambo Kings (1992) there's a scene in a dance hall where
the actor Armand Asante dances with Antonio Bandera's girl (don't know
her name) to an instrumental song in the background. Does anybody know
the name of that song and who plays it? BTW, that song is not in the
soundtrack cd...

Thanks

I think your song is "Mambo Gallego," by Tito Puente.

You can listen to an audio clip here (the second song):

Is this the right song?

I'm delighted to have been able to help you identify your song. I love
mambo, so this was a pleasurable question to answer.

As I mentioned above, the song you want is Tito Puente's "Mambo Gallego."

The Internet Movie Database verifies that this song is used in "The
Mambo Kings," but the IMDb has spelled "Gallego" wrong!

"Mambo Gailego" [sic]
 Written by Tito Puente
 Performed by Mambo All-Stars

If you like this tune, you might be interested a recent remix:
