I have put up an article at http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=4856 I would like to find out if anyone else has reported on the same idea as a way of funding green house gas reduction technologies. The concept is that there is a surcharge on energy depending on how much green house gases are produced in producing the energy. The surcharge is distributed as rewards to consumers who consume less dirty energy. Rewards can only be used for capital expenditure on other ways of reducing green house gases. The reason I want to find out is so that I can correspond with other proponents of this idea (if there are any) and share our experience. |

Interesting... I read your article. You refer to "carbon taxes": "This can be done by converting carbon taxes into rewards " Is this a tax that is currently be collected or a new tax that you are proposing? If it is currently being collected where do the funds go now? I will do some looking for your answer as well! Thanks! |

So far have been unable to find anything that matches your idea. The most interesting article was this one, though I'm sure you are very aware of this debate already. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4645031.stm |
