CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, that other huge company, all probably have openings for MBAs who know the details of pharmacy ops. |

In general, combined degrees allow you to get out of the starting positions much sooner than without. Thus a Pharmacist would have to have lots of work experience before they would be considered for a management position in the parent organization. Of course, performance has to match the degrees. You could also start out with a short stint in an HMO as a Pharmacist, and then work your way into a corporate position. It depends somewhat on the pharmacy degree. If you have a Pharm.D coupled with an MBA you have lots of options. e.g. After a short stint as a Pharmacy manager at something like a Rite-Aid store you would be a strong candidate for a Pharmacy management position at Rite-Aid or Wallgreens, and then possibly into a director position at corporate (playing your cards right, you are on the path to potential VP, CEO etc.--but by that time your degrees will not really matter). |
