how many businesses are north america?  Where can I find information
like this including;
-total number of businesses
-total broken down by small, medium, and large
-breakdown by industry

You can find all the information you require (updated through 2003,
which is the most recent data provided by the US Census Bureau) at the
following link

There you can find the total number of businesses and a breakdown by
revenue (which can be a proxy for the business "size"). If you click
in each link shown in the page (for example, in "All Corporations"),
you'll get a breakdown by industry.
