My now 17 yo daughter has been in a relationship for a year with a guy
who is 19-20. They were sexually active when she was 15-16, but she
broke up with him about 2 months ago, after she finally admitted that
he was beating the crap out of her. Now, 2 months later, he is still
blowing up her phone, talking smack to her friends, and trying to
interfere with her life. He finally got her alone and beat her up
again. He's pretty careful to not leave bruises, and I know she
fights back. But this time she has a mild concussion, and I want to
get a restraining order and more if I can (statutory rape, etc). Her
therapist calls him a sociopath, and he fits the criteria for a
serious abuser. The problem is she is terrified of him, and doesn't
want to press charges for fear of his retaliation. I know she doesn't
want to face him in court, as he will slander her all over the place
and manipulate her. For
example, I know he owns a sniper rifle with a tripod (we found it in
the trunk of his car). He stalks her, and I worry that the next time
he will totally lose control and kill her. We live in Virginia.

Serious problems, and I sympathise with your pain. However, the only
solution is to go to the police. Perhaps, you may get good advices on
how to be strong about it, what kind of case you've got, and so on at:

# Virginia Family Violence and Sexual Assault HOTLINE
1-800-838-8238

# Child Abuse HOTLINE
1-800-552-7096
(she's a minor and being abused!)

Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence
<http://www.vadv.org/>
(same as the hotline)

The service would provide you advice for free; and would protect your
identity until you'll feel free to expose yourself.

Send your daughter away to another state to finish her schooling.
