Hi,
I frequently recieve MAC Word documeents that contain pictures. When
I view these document using Word 2003, many of the pictures cannot be
viewed and I get the message "QuickTime and a TIFF (LZW) decompressor
are needed to see this".

I've seen many articles on how to fix this by editing the document on
the MAC or changing the way in which the images are placed in the
document. But if I don't have access to a MAC, does anyone know a way
of fixing these documents?

I'm looking for either something I can do to these documents in Word
on my PC, or better still, a clever programmer may be able to create a
widgit that converts the documents for me (still without the need for
a MAC). Alternatively, if someone is willing to fix the documents on
their MAC for me and return them, I could arrange something with them
(but that won't answer my question!)

Thanks
Richard

Hi trickster2000,

I believe this can only be done by re-importing the original graphic/s
(without compression). I don't think this can be remedied by
installing Quicktime or Quicktime Alternative. I am not a "clever
programmer", so there may be another way wound --but I haven't heard
of one. As an alternative, I would be happy to fix the files for you
on my Mac. You can upload them here: http://rapidshare.de

Hi jackburton,
You are correct, the Quicktime part of the message is misleading as
installing Quicktime will have no impact on this. This only occurs to
images that are cut and pasted into the document, not ones that are
inserted. Some articles indicate that this can be fixed on the Mac
side by using the red-eye removal tool on the images. These docs will
be available on my website from 20:00GMT today at
http://grimlock.zapto.org/temp01/. Fixing these docs would not be
considered an answer to this question, but I'd be willing to pay $2
per document fixed.

Just a comment: You can try to download the QuickTime Player from
Apple's website and install it on your PC.
