We are looking to setup a wireless network on a farm, or a retreat. At
this time hi speed network is available in one central location, but
we need to expand it to the surrounding area. The questions is; what
is the best way to setup a wireless network on a farm. The distance of
the wireless network should cover about 5mi. Are there any long range
wireless devices that will cover that large of an area? If yes please
provide links to some products. If there are other approaches to this
please describe, and provide examples how this can be done. Please
list products and sources for your information.

Thanks.

A few more details would be helpful:

What type of terrein? Hills, trees, valies, flat, ect...

How many end points? Are you looking to connect several buildings, or
do you need roaming wifi access?

What kind of budget are you looking at?

What is the use going to be? Just Internet access, or are there
applicaitons involved?

Thanks!

The terrain is slightly hilly with trees obscuring both building that
we would like access to. There would be 2 end points. office (1/4
mile) and a 3 bedroom house (1/3 mile from main house).

Don?t know budget. I guess we would just have to see the price and
then decide if it is worth it or not.

There could be applications such as printing and streamlining videos.

Thanks.
