We have acquired an Olympus BX40 with epifluorescent capability as a
gift. It has no manual and trying to set up the epifluorescence is
driving us crazy. Does anyone have a link to an on-line manual or
tutorial?

Howdy mikewa-ga,

Even though this is for a BX51, does this Interactive Java Tutorial shed any
"light" on your question?
http://www.olympusmicro.com/primer/java/lightpaths/bx51fluorescence/index.html

If it does the trick, please tell me and I will post this as an answer. If
it doesn't, please tell me and I check further. Thanks!

I have already found the tutorial, unfortunately it does not address
my problem. The triple cube BX40 has an entirely different set on
controls, which is whyy I need something specifically aimed at it

Thanks for the try

SInce posting this question, and poking around the Olympus website, I
got a call from Olympus. They are sending a technician (at no charge)
to set up the scope and provide me with a manual. I have to say this
is one of the best customer-relations deals I have seen, especially
since we did not buy the scope in the first place,
