Hello santabarbara-ga,

I spent some time looking for your document. I found several
references to the May, 1998 document you list in your question but I
was not able to find it. Since Hewlett Packard bought Compaq they have
many of the Compaq white papers available on their website.
Unfortunately, the document you listed is not one of them. It seems
there are several sources for the 1994 version of the paper. Please
let us know your thoughts. Have you tried contacting HP to see if the
document is available even if it doesn't turn up on a search of their
website? Thanks.

All of the pdf's cited were from the 1994 or 1995 paper, not the 1998
paper cited in the patent.

contact HP directly and see if they have a copy.

I did a search, and I came up with this link:
